While I thoroughly enjoy the modern conveniences of running water, indoor plumbing and electricity, to name but a few, I think there must have been some wonderful advantages to living in the times of the "horse & buggy". Certainly one must have had more fresh air as there was no pollution to hinder it and because there were no cars, you would have walked or ridden wherever you needed to go, thus giving you occasion to breathe in that fresh, crisp air.
News would have travelled far slower and most people would have heard only the local stories, I'm sure. I think that would have given people far less to worry about and though some may think it limiting, I truly don't think the limitless information we have now is actually benefiting us in any way.
Sigh...I would imagine that it's just the romantic notion of the simpler times as shown in the photo. Family, warmth, sharing. It's still present today, but often it seems as if we have to try so much harder to achieve it and to find it.
So today, I am thankful. For God, for Jesus, for my life, for my family, for running water, for indoor plumbing and so many other things that it would take me pages to list them all.
And so, in closing, I would like to wish each and every one a most Blessed and Happy Christmas and may the year 2016 be filled with joy and prosperity!
